Koloa Sugar Mill-Back to the Earth
The Koloa Sugar Mill is shut down and the equipment is slowly rusting, returning to the earth. This view is from the backside of the old Mill. There is beauty even in decay.
This fabric painting started out with white fabric. I first transferred my drawing to the fabric, then layered the top, the batting and the backing together and "drew" the lines with stitching which also held the three layers of fabric together. I then painted the fabric and when it was dry and the colors set, I added dense quilting lines to give the piece texture and definition.
