Born in Vernon, B.C., Canada in the 1950's, I moved to the Hawaiian Islands in 1985. I have been a resident of Kaua`i since 1993.

I started sewing at the age of three when I began to design and create entire wardrobes for my dolls. My mother who was a professional seamstress encouraged my interest and allowed me to use her sewing machine when I turned five and could reach the foot peddle!

I majored in Art throughout my school years and have always drawn and painted as my passion. In the late 1990's, I merged my passions for sewing and fine arts and began designing and making my "Art Quilts". My first "Art Quilt" won an honorable mention at the 1998 Art Kaua`i Show and later was accepted at the annual Hawaii Crafts Guild Show in Honolulu,HI. I knew then that I had found the medium and direction that lit up for me.

With my Quilt Paintings, I strive to integrate the feelings of comfort and caring a quilt evokes with images that open my heart. I love to work in the medium of fabric and quilting because I can layer fabrics and add thread work to create images that are more dimensional. I often paint directly onto fabric and then incorporate the painting into the quilt--a combination that I find very exciting and rewarding.

Like life, my pieces will reveal much detail and some surprises if you take the time to study them more closely. By reflecting the beauty, order, and harmony of life, I hope to take the viewer on a journey of discovery and a deeper awareness of the grace which surrounds us.

1985-1993 Maui--Participated every year in the Hui No'eau's annual "Christmas House", frequently entered and was accepted to the Annual Membership shows and also to Art Maui--mainly watercolors.
